Josh Kerr was bounced outta round two at the Quiksilver Pro, France by Aritz Aranburu, which is a shame, ’cause we all know what Mr Kerr can do on the right beachbreak section. But rather than being all sad and jetting home, Josh is changing things up a little this year. “Last year he jumped home for a few days and came back for Portugal looking as fresh as ever while everyone else was dragging from all the bottles of Bordeaux and baguettes,” says our photographer, Ryan Miller. “Not sure if he’s sticking around again or not, but he was here to catch the last of this dwindling swell. It isn’t going totally flat but with a decent bump in the forecast I doubt the comp will run for the next few days. After asking about surfing so close to the bunkers he was honest about his intentions: “I was definitely hunting backdrops while filming.””
