As you know by now, the South African would paddle into the Barra Da Tijuca lineup moments after this photo was taken, post a 9.33 (huge double grab wheelie over critical section) and 8.50 (stale air-reverse first hit, into top turn and frontside grab air finish), and beat Adriano on his home soil. Jordy said on the podium that he had to prove to himself that he could win a world tour event outside of South Africa (having only won the Billabong Pro, J-Bay (twice!)). And today, he did just that.
