You saw Jordy Smith’s film, Now Now, right? A self-produced, 15-minute joint directed by Jacob Wooden, that climaxed in South Africa with three monstrous and scary-clean flips. Landed by Flynn Novak, Gabriel Medina and on occasion by John John Florence, the flip has yet to be truly popularised. But Jordy’s working hard to bring the air into his everyday vocab. “Dude has been going hard trying these flips,” says the man who took this photograph, Ryan Miller. “I think it’s about half for video and half practicing for the WCT. He pulled out quite a few heats with the superman before getting cooked by the judges at Bells for a big one. After that it was promptly retired. I feel like he is going to get these so dialled in that he’ll bring it to the WCT for a few big heat wins.”
