Jordy Smith, A Smaller one in Cape Town, South Africa

After a week of lake-esque conditions, the swell’s finally rolled in to greet Jordy Smith in Cape Town. Jordy’s been kicking around there since the Quiksilver Pro, Gold Coast finished in early March, and has since been indulging on amazing food and wine around his hometown, surfing (when there’s swell) and waiting for the Rip Curl Pro, Bells Beach to start on the 19th of April. Since the swell filled-in again, Jords has been back on the early-to-bed, early-to-rise, surf-all-day program. The day you see above was actually a little too big for everywhere else. Jordy was taking a clean-up set on the head every 20 minutes, just to try and catch the inside ones like this. According to photog Ryan Miller, when Jordy came in his leash “Looked like a 20-foot spaghetti noodle.” The boys’d been waiting for swell for a week, and now that it’s arrived they’re almost hoping for a little less.
