This spin is friendly because that’s Jack Freestone’s good pal Mitch Crews paddling over the shoulder there, looking up at Jack as he flows a semi-full rotation backside spin. This is playful Hawaii, good times with good friends and a long way from the increased heart rate conditions of last Wednesday when things start feeling much more lonely. The swell didn’t stick around for long and the North Shore has returned to small wave paradise, rather than big wave paradise. Plenty of ramps for backside spins like this one. Jack won his first round heat at the Reef Hawaiian Pro but didn’t have such luck in his second match-up, so now he’ll be bouncing around in sessions like this until Sunset starts.
