Dusty Payne, Immersed in Lowers, CA

You’d be forgiven for thinking this is an ugly throw-away. But once you see the sequence, you’ll come to realise it’s an amazing decimation of an open Lower Trestles face.

Similarly to Kelly Slater (see yesterday’s Full Frame), Hawaiian Dusty Payne (pictured here), along with the rest of the Nike 6.0 team, wasted no time in getting outta Rio and flying to California. The lack of great waves in Rio left Dusty eager for some running open faces and, as y’can see here, he vented frustration at his 25th place in Brazil. Much to our delight, too – this sequence is a treat.
