Craig Anderson, hairball spin, Lakey Peak, Sumbawa
What a short time frame the pro trip works around in the age of accurate-ish surf reporting? Ain’t that long ago, a surf trip would swallow your favourite star for two weeks, now it’s a three-day hit, Surfline.com being the soothsayer of the modern professional. This photograph here was taken during the DC shoe team’s last session at Lakey Peak, day four. “It was ragged and windblown,” says the photographer, Mr Ryan Miller. “Craig stuck it out till dark while everyone else went in after two hours. Then, the wind lightened up and the waves cleaned up nicely. The hot afternoon sun started too cool and Craig started to come into his own. He was mostly hunting the rights and stomping plenty of backside tail-blows and rotators. He got his best clips and photos from that last session all alone in the lineup. It was those magic afternoons where everything comes together.”
