Brad Norris swoops beneath The Right, WA
“We had a big swell over the weekend that lit up most of the spots on the West Coast,” says photographer Chris Gurney from West Oz. “It was pretty hard to choose where to go, but I headed to The Right with Brad Norris (pictured here).” You’ll likely remember The Right from various coverage, but most recently when Stab took Mark Mathews and Taj Burrow there in search of the best surf photograph ever taken. Given what happened to Mark, we all know that this place is nothing to play with. Over the weekend however, it was about as playful as it gets (even still, a generous adjective). “It was slow but really perfect when they came, no closeouts,” continues Chris. “Winter has really turned on in August, there’s been a few massive swells and a bunch of cleaner days, hopefully the run of good form continues.”
