Mick Fanning And Ross Williams Debate Taj Burrow’s Competitive Drive
Mick and Ross also debate why Taj never won a World Title and the number of rights vs. lefts on tour.
Getting Heated is back with Episode 3.
The WSL’s new debate show starring Mick Fanning and Ronnie Blakey gave us an honorable mention this week. With Taj Burrow’s Stab In The Dark in full swing (and Mick being a former subject of the series) they take a look back at why Taj never won a world title. Mick went as far as to say: “He wanted to film the best part of the year, he wanted to go and win contests but also have a lot of fun while doing it… the mental side of it was probably Taj’s biggest weakness.“
While we know Taj easily could’ve (and likely should’ve) picked off a world title, no one can argue the fun he had while on tour. Taj’s jovial attitude has carried well into retirement and was something we had to contend with while filming S.I.T.D, as Taj was simply too damn nice. He had trouble cutting boards often because he could imagine the section or wave that they would be fun in…
Anyways, this episode Mick and Ronnie also debate the number of rights vs. lefts on tour and whether or not Steph will pick off her eighth title this year. Click above to watch.
