Ben Gravy Wins First Surf Comp Since ’99
A fun day of disorganized competition.
The NumbSkulls are back, with an ice-cold, no-rules surf contest. The contest protocol was not exactly up to Olympic standards—an unannounced contest with no judges, no tents, and no heats. Just whoever happened to be on the best wave getting a prize. We thought Surf100 was a loose operation, but this downright madness.
Instead of handing out cash, Rob Kelly and the boys had a better idea—a loophole in supporting local. With a little help from Red Bull, they bought $1000 worth of gift cards from Farias Surf & Sport and handed those out instead. Ben Gravy found the best wave, Connor Willem took the heaviest slam, and Zach Humphreys took home the trophy for the best turn.
