Gallery: One Last Hoorah On The Sunshine Coast
Moments from the final Summer Sessions soirée.
The afternoon started on the sand. We’d emerged from our mini buses, delirious and hungover, eager to rinse off before the final Summer Sessions event. The bands were in better shape than the rest of us, they frolicked in the shorebreak, chatted with lifeguards and ate cheese and crackers. By the time supports Dooley, hit the stage, the line out the front of the Sunshine Beach Surf Club was spilling up the road. Security and organisers wore concerned expressions. Shortly after we received word that they’d hit capacity. Kai Hing hobbled in with a busted knee. Teenagers and grown men jumped fences. It was anarchy.
Middle Kids played to a full house. We stood on our toes towards the back trying to catch a glimpse between a wall of sandy hair and girls in snapback caps. The crowd seemed more animated and enthusiastic compared with the previous shows. Cub Sport wrapped the evening in spectacular fashion. Phones were raised, we clapped, we cheered, we forgot how exhausted we were. Today we’ve been reminded. Life Without Andy’s photos just landed in our inbox, have a sift through above and hold tight for our Stab x Summer Bright Lager video wrap.
