Ellie-Jean Coffey’s Skating Instagram Post: “Best Thing On The Internet!”
“This is the hottest Instagram post you’ve ever seen!” – GQ
Make no mistake: Ellie-Jean Coffey knows exactly what she’s doing. Spokesgal for *sexy pride* in women’s surfing, and owner of a certain undeniable something when it comes to aesthetics, EJC is the focal point of one very polarising Instagram account (with sis Holly Daze not far behind). And on said Instagram account she recently posted the above skateboarding video, which is just everything. The facial expression, the knee placement, the innocent laugh… GQ magazine also enjoyed the post immensely; so much so, they claimed it the “hottest Instagram post you’ve ever seen.”
Just quickly, for a little context, while they weren’t talking about her directly, Thought Catalog perhaps captured the essence of EJC best with their Yas Kween description: “People have tried to knock her down, time and time again. But she keeps getting up on that metaphorical horse, or cat, and showing the world that she’s not afraid to be who she is. A go-getter. A badass. A boss, one who read half of the book #GIRLBOSS but will get to the second half eventually so just CALM DOWN she has a lot on her plate right now.”
She also once wrote on Instagram, “I’m a barbie girl in a barbie world.”
Anyhow, back to the skating post. “Ellie-Jean Coffey is an Australian athlete and she’s better at surfing than you,” writes GQ. “She’s won the Australasian Pro Junior Series, came second at the International Surfing Association World Juniors competition and has a sponsorship deal with surf brand Billabong.” (all true!)
“She also has an Instagram account. And on that Instagram account she posts many surf-related things – being towed into huge waves (?), her nailing the perfect cut back on six feet of squeaky clean Australia wave, and this. It is a short video of her practicing her skills on an OB Five skateboard. And it’s one of the finest things on the internet. You’re welcome, gentlemen.”
