Steph Gilmore nude for ESPN

Steph Gilmore, like you’ve nearly seen her before. ESPN have done what Stab once tried to do and brought a nude shoot with Steph to life. Our risqué spread with the four-times women’s world champ never came to print. A great interview, amazing shots and into the nether-regions of Stab‘s vault they all disappeared. But, your luck ain’t out. Steph, an empowered woman, is now ready to show all and she’s just joined a list that includes Kell Slater (2010) and Claire Bevilacqua (2009) – surfers that’ve appeared nude for ESPN‘s magazine.

“It’s daunting for female surfers to match the image of being a tan, fit beach girl in a bikini,” said Steph. “So posing naked for these photos was liberating, and helped me stop stressing about my insecurities.

Considering she’s a world class surfer, this seems like a pretty unnecessary attempt to gain some extra attention. I like Steph but this is desperate.

She is beautiful. It takes a lot of courage to pose nude. I don’t think there is a hidden agenda of attention grabbing according to previous comments. She is beautiful, she is strong, and she is an athlete. If you don’t like it you are just projecting your own insecurities onto her.
