Music Is The Booze That Fills Our Cup Of Silence
OFFICEMIX: Episode 001.
Welcome, hoovers and groovers, to the first of a new series. See, with locations on opposite sides of the world there ain’t much – besides our sick obsession with surf and it’s delicate fringes – that we share.
We’re accustomed to the fact that music makes our office more pleasant – it beats the sounds of tapping keys and coffee cups being slammed onto desks. The Stab Staff collectively pieced together this mix – an attempt to own our idiosyncrasies, from Bondi to Bordeaux, Manhattan to Malibu.
Sharing music’s tough and we’re a bunch of stiff-necked individuals. We attempted to introduced a no nostalgia rule: ie. No David Bowie. (RIP, my dude), no tunes from old Nevsy clips (John Maus – Cop killer), No tired old bangers (Todd Terje – Insp. Norse).
But Morgan Williamson loves nostalgia, could write us a damn poem to prove it, and fought back. Adding in two Donny Benet tracks – Sex Tourist is catchy as fuck. Morgan’s a man that loves the 80’s, Baywatch, Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”—We could not deny him his additions.
This is our first OFFICEMIX. It’s got tracks from artists some knew fuck-all about before, but have been bumping all week—Buzz Kull, Spike Fuck, Harvey Sutherland and Felix Lush to name a few.
We’ll be dropping these as a regular series, and this is your official invitation to the party here at Stab. (With offices in LA and Sydney, it goes all day long.)
Pour yourself a glass of something good, and put your headphones on—or drop a tune in the comments for us, if you’re feeling sweet. Come on baby, dance with us.
