A Surfer You Don’t Know Catching Waves You Can’t Help But Watch
Those rare times the swell lines up with the end of the work week.
Here are the two of the safest bets you can make in surfing: Backhand snaps will get scores during the Australian leg of the Tour, and a swell will always land in the middle of the work week. Right now, let’s talk about the latter inconvenience. Because the video above is a visually pleasing display of one of the rare times conditions, waves and the weekend actually manages to line up.
“Aussie charger Tom Wadsworth and I made this on our days off,” says clip director, Zac Heath, in an email sent to Stab. “It’s pretty hard for Tom and I to even hang out, let alone chase swells considering we are both full-time tradies working in different states. So it was a pretty rare occurrence for a swell to line up during a window off work. We basically surfed and shot from the ski every morning with my Red camera wrapped in a raincoat as I couldn’t afford a housing yet until the onshore came up.”
How relatable! Using the weekend for a strike trip to avoid going insane being chained to work. And not to forget, absolutely scoring in doing so. Then piecing together a well-produced clip filled with more than a handful of noteworthy rides chronicling it all. And, yes, the irony of posting this in the middle of the week isn’t going by unnoticed.
