Ventura County To Close Beaches 4th Of July Weekend; Record Spike In Coronavirus Cases In Orange County
FFS.
I think we all saw this coming.
As the soft reopening of coastal California has corresponded to an ever alarming spike in Coronavirus cases in the state, it shouldn’t have come as a surprise to hear Governor Gavin Newsom’s announcement that LA beaches would be closing 4th of July weekend.
Today, after health officials Orange County was put on the “watch list” following reports of more than 779 new coronairus cases in Orange County alone, it looks as if many counties up and down the coast will be following suit.
This afternoon, Ventura announced beach closures July 4th weekend, as well.
“Ventura County Public Health Officer Dr. Robert Levin tells KCLU News parking areas and beaches will be closed. He says he’s concerned people will try to take part in big gatherings which could spread coronavirus. And, with Los Angeles County closing its beaches for the weekend, there’s concern that people would try to come to Ventura County, packing its beaches as well as streets in coastal communities.”
Governor Newsom is expected to lay out a plan on Wednesday.
