Sunshine In The Rearview: Ozzie Wright’s Rock-Hopping Madness
Ozz talks surfing through caves, acid drops and dry-reef belly flops.
Before the days of social media world domination, and digital surf porn at your fingertips, there was VHS. The colour hues were strange and you had to sit and wait for a few agonising minutes while the damn thing rewound every time you wanted to watch something. But… there was Doped Youth. What a trip that was. The most unforgettable moment in entire tape worth of kooky acting (in the most entertaining sense), explosive surfing and creative genius? The Ozzie Wright section. It was here, that we were first introduced to Mr Wright’s rather unique surfing inclinations. Between Doped Youth, 156 Tricks and the more recent Metal Neck II, he’s ridden through caves, flopped onto barnacled dry rock, boardslid hand rails and stepped off dangerously high ledges. In this latest episode of Sunshine In The Rearview we sat Ozzie down to hear his recount on these wild doings and simply soak up some of that limitless positive vibration.
