The Place Where Japanese Art Meets Surf Punk Culture
Stacey blends hardcore, surfing, skating, tattoos, and traditional Japanese drawing techniques.
Surfboard and clothing maker, Stacey, is rooted in the culture that has danced through history in parallel with surfing: Hardcore, skating, tattoos, and the like. But surfing is so about balance! And it’s balance that informed Stacey’s 2017 “A Place In The Sun” entry: The punk pop art printed on the trunks was drawn in traditional Japanese style by artist Kentaro Yoshida. Another big focus? The fit. Never overlook the value of a good fit. “We were really hung up on it, so we’ve created a waistband that takes notes from a well-tailored pant,” says GBO Tennberg. “The front closure uses a simple idea, a slight gap between the tabs, that allows you to cinch down half a size. So for all the blokes floating somewhere between a 32″ and a 33″ waist, no worries.”
