Some Kind Of Light With Bruce Irons
Any inspiration you’d like.
Winter of 2015/2016 was a dire season on the Rock. Evan Geiselman almost died. Bede Durbidge shattered his hip. Adriano De Souza won the world title (remember that?). But the storyline of the winter was Bruce Irons’ rise from the ashes.
Styled with a quiver of Rising Sun blades, in memory of his late brother, he scribed a deal with RVCA, got into the Pipe Masters, made the final of the Pipe Pro and the birds chirped “comeback”. And a year later, he’s still here.
So what inspired surfing’s James Dean to clean up his act and get his head back in the game? Family. Love. Waking up feeling good. Bruce has always been enigmatic, but older and wiser, he’s less guarded. With a hand rolled American Spirit between his fingers, he lets it spill.
