Jared Mell, Simply Surfing In Costa Rica
Because there are enough high-performance edits in rotation.
The internet’s filled with hi-fi. It’s congested with rail grab turns and rotations into the flats. To the point that we’re sick of air-reverses because we want flips! Right?
Not always. Sometimes we want surfing that’s “relatable”. Take Jared Mel, he looks pretty on a single fin and pulls into user-friendly tubes in Costa Rica. He cross-steps his log and faces the wave no matter which way it breaks. Today, surfers we adore aren’t always those pushing the envelope of what’s possible on their fibreglass toys. It’s those who can ride anything in playful to critical conditions, and, at the same time, we can relate to.
