Jamie O’Brien Illuminates Pipeline After Dark

If you’ve been at Pipeline around sunset this winter, you’ve seen this. Jamie and his crew have been paddling out during the blood orange day’s end with Lume Cubes in tow. From the sand, they’re nearly blinding. The amount of light put off by these little squares is incredible, and has created a new normal on the North Shore. For Jamie, someone who has Pipeline’s reef plotted by memory, illuminated night sessions are only natural. And although this clip is loaded with that nauseating Go-Pro on the nose angle, it’s at least used in a way that we’ve never seen before. That being said, we prefer the drone.
