How Groms Are Prepping For Tokyo 2020
#TOURNOTES: Team USA.
The USA Surfing Championships is one of the biggest amateur surfing events in North America. Held annually at Lower Trestles, competitors this year were welcomed with 4-6 foot surf (a blessing if you know how moody springtime California surf is) and hazy conditions. Its purpose? So scouts, coaches, agents, marketing directors, current and former CT stars can catch a glimpse at what the future of US pro surfing is going to look like. Kolohe Andino, Damien Hobgood and Aaron Cormican (remember him?) co-star, giving their analysis on the talent level in front of them. Could it be a cleverly disguised Olympic Trails for Tokyo? Finding a role-player to fill in should John John, Kolohe, or Conner Coffin either be injured or lose Olympic interest once 2020 rolls around? The abundance of American flags, patriotic branding, and competitive air certainly teases the thought.
