An Above Average Session In South Africa
Consider this your daily stoke reel.
Working for a surf publication, I watch a lot of elite level surfing. So much that, and it pains me to say this, I often become desensitized to the sight of six-foot barrels and airs. It’s a sad truth but also an accepted part of the human condition. Watching something enough, regardless of its amazing or awful nature, will leave you feeling numb to the sight.
Which is maybe why this clip, featuring pretty good surfers at a really fun wave, resonates so strongly with me. They’re not doing anything crazy, just placing turns where they fit and finding shade when the wave calls for it, but all things considered, this clip puts me in a better mood to surf than Noa Deane throwing massive rotations to the flats. I think the music helps too.
