Instagram is totally the new Facebook. Or, is it Twitter? Hmmm. Whatever it is, it’s a form of social media that makes for some really good viewing and offers an candid insight into the surfing world. And within that world, some real cool stuff happened this week. Here’s a collection of our faves!

Hi-octane surfing action is always a necessity. In this case, it's supplied by @boskophoto, who gives us a Taj Burrow backside air on a small day at Pipeline. @tajamos

@surfer_magazine's photo of the Day is @catherinejclark in Hawaii, by @morganmaassen. Quite a special moment, yes?

Mark Healey's Insta-name is @donkeyshow. He also swims with sharks. This particular one is a "very friendly Oceanic White Tip."

@balibelly gives a view of Uluwatu we'd all like to be drinking in. It's @mdraditya shot by @h_hump. Make what y'will of that.

@rustysurfboard_co ain't wrong – Jay Davies is certainly "tweaked" right here.

@mfanno of MP? Mick's homage to his fallen hero. "#morningoftheearth"

Oh, he also scored "Picturesque Bells" this week.

@matthew_obrien takes v good photos. This one's of Mitch Coleborn, aka @winstonwolf. Oh, the modesty of an un-obvious Instagram name!

Mitch also enjoys early morning coffee with pooch, MAK.

@berenhall, in Africa. Expect awesomeness from this trip, real soon.

"Tiger whisperers," says @patrickgud of he and his bro @danedamus' trip to a J-Bay reserve.

@kalanimiller, @kellyslater and the Kell's hottest fashion accessory for summer 2013 (called 'Action').

@ianwalsh4 is somewhere warm, in the Caribbean. Jealous? Us too!

Here's to @rissmoore10's blossoming and increasingly-lovely femininity.

And for being the first surfer gal to take her relationship to social media.
BTW, y’knew Steph Gilmore (@stephaniegilmore) won her fifth world title, right? Here’s some scenery around the event:

Enjoying an Apérol Spritz in Paris.

Props to the suave marketer at Quik who cooked up the high-brow congrats concepts: Firstly, the designer label-esque teos...

… And secondly the Chanel tribute bottles. Better then a trophy, huh?

You thought we wouldn't? Have you no faith! Follow @alanarblanchard and help continue her claim as highest-followed surfer after Kelly Slater (yup).
