The 2012 Kustom Airstrike boat trip just docked after 10 days in the Mentawais. Aboard was Albee Layer, Chippa Wilson, John Florence, Matt Meola and Ryan Callinan. The trip’s aim was to dangle $50k in front of the five noses, in the hope that one’d land the best aerial ever seen. Stab caught up with Ryan yesterday to find out the kinda things that were being attempted: :”There was Albee with the 720s. Meola had some flips, the frontside double-grab flips and the Kerrupt backflip things. John went really big on everything and Chippa was trying some crazy board spins. It was actually really exciting ’cause someone would take off and you’d be sitting out the back, going holy crap, he could win $50k on this wave. And you’d see them trying the biggest thing possible.”
