Nike at Snapper Rocks

Starring Julian Wilson, Kolohe Andino, Lakey Peterson, Laura Enever and Michel Bourez, this is Nike on the Gold Coast during the Quiksilver Pro, Snapper Rocks. For Kolohe and Lakey, this was a debut World Tour event. For Julian and Lakey, it was the beginning of their sophomore years. Laura ended up scooping second place to Steph Gilmore. Get at it.

Awesome! Two minutes of in your face branding and one minute of cutting room floor surfing. Fuck, can you guys post more of this stuff? I can’t get enough!

They already sponsor 2 big events, the US Open & Trestles. “But Hurley & Nike 6.0 sponsor those events” I hear you say…well Nike acquired Hurley in 2002 and obviously directly own Nike 6.0. They also regularly pump out the 100k for first place at both those events, and in the past they have even jacked it up even more in light of performance barriers being smashed etc. all feel good stuff.

I remember at the first US open they sponsored, to draw the CT guys to a QS event they put up the 100k first prize as well as arranging ‘goody bags’ just for showing up…

They seem to be contributing quite well at the moment, and they will no doubt step up and have another event under their belts at some point, maybe when one of their team wins a comp/tour title.

how about nike sponsor the j bay event? they’ve got heaps of coin to throw around by the looks. they jumped on the surf bandwagon, now give a little back.
