Comrades…everyone here seems to have their underwear tied in a knot over how good this guy surfs. Let’s get a few facts straight: Does he rip? Yes. Is he top 10 CT material? No. Let’s put the editing and tight pantalones hipster shit aside for a sec. What we need to consider is that we are looking at his best clips on what literally appears to be a perfect wave. I’ve watched lots of this guys clips. He is a great surfer and he has good flow. his above the lip game is solid. However…the scene is loaded with waaaaayyyy to many “half underground” free surfers who want to be dane. If you are wondering why he isn’t an A Team Billabong guy, maybe its because the market literally cannot support that many guys right now, especially free surfers. I want to see what this guy can do besides what we seen in these clips. If you put him next to CJ hobgood at 8-10 foot Cloudbreak, how will his surfing look? On another note…and I’m interested in hearing what others think, it seems like Jordy and a few others locked massive deals, only to be sitting next to another “as equally” progressive group of kids, which is continuing to expand. (Kolohe, Gabriel, JJ). These guys were not in the mix when Jordy was getting calls from Tiger woods. Next we have Gieselman. We have Yadin now. Also, why is that damn Weimerainer so skinny? Feed the thing a fucking burrito or something. Your in Mexico. They are like 2 bucks.

HHHmmm the surfing is pretty rad but lets not overhype the film/edit – it was pretty average actually. So very short of creative to be honest – whoever it did wants to rip off Kai Neville (candid reality and a game of thirds in the water) – you can tell who’s trained and who aint in this surf video game. This edit makes your eyes work too hard – darting all over the screen. No flow joe – Kai’s films are still worth buying as long as this kinda stuff is heralded as legit film work. great surf, pretty rad. sure see some Rasta looking like here. to tell you guys the truth, didn’t see anything close to dane, ozzy or julian. stop looking at the guys clothes and check out the curves, the body language, the body position. I didn’t see any carving here like the ones Dane does. But I see really technical moves and pretty hard turns, so, great stuff for sure!

Rosza crushes. He’s miles ahead of the bottom half of the CT, no diggity, no doubt. Comparison to Dane – O are def. legit, similiar style and power, but dane is dane. Backside finners to infinity? Check. Lofty boosts? si senorita. Rail game? ah yup. Difference between dane and nicky? Rozsa’s gotta kid to feed expect some sickness from him in the next 3 to 5.

So…gleaning a lesson from Dane and Nick, the secret to being a ‘cool surfer dude’ is hawaiian print button ups, facial hair, beer and dirty beaches…either that, or Rozsa is biting Dane’s style (albeit easier to do once you shred). Still though, when hipster shredding becomes formulaic in that it can be replicated with relative ease to great success, then does it still have impact?

I think Rosza is fucking RAD! Not the best in the world but he’s def top 10! Most underground, underrated surfer of the modern shredding era. He blows away 3/4 of the Lost Atlas cast and so does this edit. Kai is Kai and Dane is Dane but Rosza and Papleo are one hell of a combo I must say.

My dog could have been Kai Nevbev is he had Taylor Steele as his owner. If Nick was spono’d by Nike and his filmer was a tight pant wearing hipster you would all be praising him. Underground King No Question

Besides The Holy Reynolds & God of all that is surfing (slater) I think Nick is #1 right now. Especially as free surfers go. Yes 2Johns is fucking gnarly, same with kolehe and gabe (both freaks ya) but those guys still have a lot of evolving to do. RIGHT NOW nick is entering his prime and there’s only a few other wave riders i would rather watch. Keep is up young man the future is bright.
