Another Airline, Another Pro’s Broken Quiver
The curious case of Natxo Gonzalez and Iberia Air’s dismemberment program!
For this week’s installment of such-and-such Airline fucked up so-and-so’s quiver, we have Spanish big-waver Natxo Gonzalez, whose trio of guns was parted like Panama. The suspect? Iberia Airlines.
Let’s hear it from Natxo himself.
Heading to Chile for what looks to be the swell of the season, Natxo arrived to find his boards — a 10’4, 9’6 and 7’4 — halved like hoagies. He went on to ask Iberia Air, “Have you thrown them from a seventh floor? Not easy to break this kind of boards….”
And he’s half-right. Those boards, likely three inches thick, would be a real bitch to snap. However, dropping them from a significant altitude would cause damage to the nose and/or tail, of which I see no evidence.
Even in the case that they were run over by a car, it seems unlikely that all three boards would snap perfectly in half. I also don’t see how a car tire could traverse the 12” thick surfboard bag without intending to do so.
This leaves me at a loss.
Does God hate surfing, or are the airlines really that careless?
Since God doesn’t have an IG, it’s probably best we take our frustrations out on @Iberia. Oh, how we love a bloodbath!
