It’s Official: The Drug Aware Pro Is Moving To North Point!
Prayers answered.
North Point has been an alternate for Margies for last season and this. After it was added to the roster, discussion around the top 34 weaving through West Oz’s rampy, hollow right-hander spurred from mouths to touch screens and keyboards. As far as we’re concerned, the wave is idyllic for competition; the tube screams, the walls cater to big cuts and sections liken to the loftiest airs–think Jordy Smith’s tube to oop combo of 2015.
The WSL has just announced North Point as the initial location for the Drug Aware Pro and currently is set to take off in divine conditions tomorrow morning. The competition can still possibly move back to Margaret River or hopefully the Box by the end of the waiting period. But, at this time, the trials are a go, featuring two gents who dazzle in North Point emerald: Jay Davies and Jack Robinson. While we typically hope for the Margies mush-burger to move to the Box this time of year, firing North Point is our elect. The Australian leg has a history of less than spectacular events but after a decent showing at Snapper (and the comeback story of the century), the kickoff of the 2017 WSL season looks to excite.
We aren’t religious men, but damn be damned, it feels like some sort of prayer has been answered.
In other Drug Aware Pro news: Jesse Mendes has gotten the nod into the event by Commish Kieren Perrow and Nat Young will be replacing Italo Ferreira due to his recent injury.
