The Little Weeds rules and prizes are subject to being updated or changed throughout the competition. So keep checking.
Entrants
Little Weeds is open to anyone of any age. Modelling entries have to be at least 13 and require parental consent.** And, put your clothes back on, cowboy. We're only trying to find a new female model this time round.
Entries can be taken from anywhere in the world, however, winners can only be found from Australia and New Zealand.
An entry can be placed in two divisions. Like, a video can be entered for the surfing for the surfer and the same video can be used in filmography.

The Comp
Little Weeds is a series of three five/six -week heats. There are five categories. The three winners of the three heats of all five categories will be flown to an undisclosed location in July to compete against other Little Weeds. If you lose in one of the heats, you're welcome to re-enter in the following heats. We'd suggest updating your profile with new material and re-uploading.
During the final, the Weeds will take place in a series of challenges. Each day these challenges will be uploaded. Readers will then vote on their favourite entries. At the completion of the event, the mentors will study the voting results and most popular entries. They will then decide who will be our first Little Weeds. Votes will be taken into account but may not be determinative of the winner.
Winners are chosen on skill, chance plays no part in the competition and no correspondence will be entered into. Winners will be flown to the Gold Coast (or some other location) from their closest capital city in each state to participate in the next phase of the competition and publicity for Little Weeds promotion. Trip includes return economy airfares, 3 night's accommodation and all meals. All other costs are the responsibility of the winners.
The dates for shooting cannot be changed. If you're not available for the dates because of prior work or school commitments, then you must forfeit your place. If you are selected for the final, you'll need to find your way to your nearest capital city and we'll fly you to the final from there.
Prizes
The prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken in cash. Prizes are subject to available and may change.

Uploads
Little Weeds is not for pornography or sexually explicit content. If this describes your video or photograph, even if it’s a video or photo of yourself, don’t post it. Don’t post videos showing bad stuff like animal abuse, drug or substance abuse, or bomb making.
Graphic or gratuitous violence is not allowed. If your video shows someone getting hurt, attacked or humiliated, don’t post it.
Respect copyright. Only upload videos that you have made or that you are permitted to use. This means don’t upload videos you didn’t make, photos you didn’t take yourself or music you don’t have the right to use. Don’t use content in your videos that someone else owns the copyright to, such as music tracks, snippets of copyrighted programs, or videos made by other users, without the necessary permissions. Making sure you have the right to use and post your materials on the website. If you don’t own the copyright then it is totally your responsibility to get all approvals to post the stuff.
Once your clip is placed on Vimeo, it's open to all publishing and licensing laws set by the artist and publisher. Little Weeds takes no responsibility. If it breaches copyright laws and it's pulled down, so is your entry on Little Weeds. We'll have a list of tracks you can use without charge or infringement.
By uploading to Little Weeds you warrant that you have the explicit copyright to the material being posted or the written consent of the original author.
By posting or uploading materials to the Little Weeds website you give Billabong, Stab and Little Weeds the right to use your video, photos, written material, name and image across other mediums such as mobile phone networks, partner websites and television programming. Your content will not be sued outside of promotion for Little Weeds. An example of this would be promoting Little Weeds by hosting your images, video, written words on the Billabong Filthy Habits Blog or Stab Magazine homepage. Winners also give consent to the use of their name, image and photographs of themselves for publicity purposes.
Entrants that are deemed illegitimate profiles will not be entitled to the entrant giveaways (Little Weeds Tee and Stab hard cover) and can be pulled from the competition. Profile's will be assessed by the site administrators and profiles or materials can be pulled down at our discretion without notice. Little Weeds will have no liability to you if you don’t win the competition because we pulled your profile or materials. So stick to the rules ok.
Surfing Fine Print
If it all goes to plan*, the winner of the surfing will feature on the cover of Stab, will cop a financial deal from Billabong and they'll go on to carve a niche as a surfer which has never previously existed before them. Thing is, many surfers are already sponsored. That's cool, too. The competition is open to absolutely anyone, sponsored or otherwise. If you capture the heart of a nation with your charisma, wit and high-fidelity surfing and you take out the competition and your board is covered in stickers, that's fine. You don't have to accept the deal from Billabong. If you're already sponsored by Billabong but want to enter, that's fine, too. Maybe you're possessing a skill they're not seeing and you want to shine on the world stage. You're still eligible for the surf trip with Taj and the cover of Stab.
* We are all-but-guaranteeing a cover but nature can also play a role in this. Obviously, if a cyclone blankets the sky for a week, or there's not a ripple in the ocean or you choke in front of the cameras during our shooting period, then it's gonna be tough. We'll have our A-team on hand to make it all happen, though. Taj will coach you through it and our photog gems will show you how to surf for the camera. Christ, if it's that bad, we'll board a plane to a wavepool and whip you in to produce.
** Model Fine Print
Entry is open to Australian residents over the age of 13. An entrant is ineligible, if at the time of entry they are either represented by a model agency or have performed in any professional modelling capacity. Further, an entrant may be disqualified by the promoter if after entry and before selection as either a finalist or the national winner they are represented by a model agency or engage in professional modelling work without the promoter's consent. In particular the promoter's decision in relation to ineligibility and the granting or withholding of consent with respect to modelling engagements or model agency representations will be absolute and final. Promoters, their employees, immediate agencies and agencies associated with this promotion cannot enter.
The winning model will receive (prizes details yet to be confirmed) and 12 month representation by Chic or Scoop Management, the start date of the agreement to be agreed between winner and agency.
Important legal stuff
Little Weeds makes no representations or warranties as to the quality, suitability or merchantability of any goods or services offered as prizes. To the extent permitted by law, Little Weeds is not liable for any personal injury or loss suffered to any person or property (including but not limited to direct consequential loss) by reason of any act or omission, deliberate or negligent, by Little Weeds or its employees or agents, in connection with the promotion, including your participation, preparing entries, finals competitions or the arrangement for the supply, or the supply, of goods and services by any person to the prize winner and, where applicable, to any persons accompanying the prize winner. This clause does not affect any rights a consumer may have which are unable to be excluded under Australian law. To the fullest extent permitted by law, any liability of Little Weeds or its employees or agents for breach of any such rights is limited to the payment of the costs of having the prize supplied again.
Each heat winner must sign a release form before they can continue in this competition.
You indemnify Little Weeds for any loss or damage suffered as a result of any prohibited materials or materials that infringe another persons’ rights that you post on Little Weeds.
If for any reason a heat or any other part of the competition does not run for the timeframe specified due to a computer virus, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other cause beyond the control of Little Weeds that corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the competition, Little Weeds reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition or disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process.
The Promoter is not responsible for any:
(a) malfunction, delay or traffic congestion on any telephone network or line, computer on-line system, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, or website;
(b) failure of any email or entry to be received by Little Weeds; nor
(c) any injury or damage to entrants or any other person related to or resulting from participation in the competition or down loading any materials in a competition.
Privacy
The details that you post on your profile are open to view by the public. By posting those details and entering into this promotion you consent to the use by Little Weeds and its sponsors of your personal information for the Little Weeds event and also future marketing and promotional purposes. You acknowledge and understand that we cannot control the use by third parties of your personal information that is posted on the internet. You can contact Little Weeds at the details below to correct your information or to get details of the personal information the we hold about you.
