Kolohe opts for FCS plugs

Posted 12 Sep 2012, by STABmag

Kolohe Andino has just signed a five-year contract with FCS fins, board bags and leashes. The appeal of the brand ain’t just in the team (40 world titles between them, collectively), but for Kolohe it’s the feel of the products themselves. And equipment isn’t something the kid takes lightly (he’s notoriously particular about his sleds). “Matt Biolos has been putting FCS in my boards for a while now and they’ve been working out great,” he says. “I’ve been experimenting with different fin templates to find out what works best for me. My boards with FCS have been performing well no matter where I am.”

ur Moms plug is too long and stiff!

This kid is all about money. He doesnt care if its Future or fcs as long as the check is in his pocket. actually he hates both. Watch “one track mind” and you will understand.

Do you really think that they would compromise performance for money, I don’t think so…. for someone who is so pedantic about the weight of his boards, the glass job perfection and all that. His dad is so onto it and the kid wants a world title..
I understand that he is stickered up with Nike and red bull but they are not affecting the performance of his surfing, Fins are..
Good luck to him with FCS I think if you look at their team it just shows that they have got a good thing going on.

FCS leashes are pieces of shit, and their boardbags lose the zippers in few months of use. The rep in Northern California was pimping them hard, but dumped them when even he woke up. The old FCS plugs were guaranteed to poke out your deck with tail stomping, new peanuts better. Once again, if someone was giving them out free, I’d take them, but wouldn’t trust my boards to their leashes.

I hope that they create a Kolohe fin also i’m sure they will, i heard that he uses a large template like Mick and alot of the boys on tour, both sytems are awesome… Imagine travelling without removable fin systems the ding repair guys would be having a field day with all the snapped out glass ons. Plus just packing the things is a nightmare with glass ons.

all about fcs, future – too stiff!

2.

the future plugs are too long, taking all of the flex out of the tail of your board. FCS plugs suck as well.

Have some of those fanning fins, its a big fin and only really like it on my backand in waves over 4ft. You need to be a super powerfull surfer to be ripping tight arcs on fanbelt fins like fanning and Wilson especially in small waves like fanning does.
Kolohe must have some grunt in those legs to rip these fins around the way he does as I would have thought he would be on something like a AM2 with the amount of release he has in his surfing.

They have money, and a replaceable product that works, especially when you get a check, and free shwag to boot. Their accessories suck ass, but unlike Future, they have accessories. FCS is inferior to Future, which is why FCS had to redesign their boxes: Too many complaints, too hard to install for board builders, leaky, and fins broke off. They wer losing market share to Future, so they went back to the drawing board. just cause you have a good team, doesn’t mean you have a great product. It means you have an ok product and a checkbook. See Von Zipper…

I don’t ever recall him comparing FCS to Futures, people are so quick to bag out a product, I believe that both have their positives and negatives and it is up to a consumer to make their mind up, I actually prefer FCS and you obviously prefer Futures.. so be it. I have been using both the FCS systems and have had no problems with either and I’m really happy with the product, I actually know for a fact that Kolohe used a bunch of systems before choosing to run with FCS, so if it was all about the coin then I’m sure that he wouldn’t have even bothered trying other brands. I’m just glad that both companies are pushing each other to create a better product.

You may think differently about your longboard box like futures plug after this.
