JS’ really work on the GC
Arakawas in Hawaii, Biolos’ at Lowers, JS’ on the GC. There’s no doubting that some of the best shapers in the world do their best work at their local break. There are exceptions, sure, and many boards are versatile but if you’re steaming off the bottom at D’Bah with a Jason Stevenson under your hooves, there’s a good chance you’ll be you playing your A-game. This is Jack Freestone and Joel Parkinson spruiking a new JS model.
JS, he makes real nice looking sticks for the likes of Parko. The ones I see under the arms of Joe average look nothing like them.
There are three grades of cloth used commonly, and they all vary in price by “x” per meter or roll. The price is based on quality. This directly translates to how your board will perform before it loses flex, fades, looks like shit, and finally dies.
High volume Shapers use the cheapest materials available because Business is business and you aren’t Parko.
Choose wisely.
I’ve had 3 JS’s and sadly they all sucked for totally different reasons. BUT they were all customs so I have to take some, if not most of the blame. This was all ‘back in the day’ mind early 00′s….The first one was waay too flat (after I asked for to to be really flat- dood one idiot). Thing used to throw me off forwards going down the line I shit you not. The second one was waay too loose I think it was the Dean Morrison rocker but on a 64 it was nearly a semi circle- I remeber eating shit HEAVILY on a set wave in front of bitg groin for daring to try and drive off the tail. The 3rd – putting it on rail felt like what i imagine those stunt drivers (or Mahony in Police Acedemy) feel when they get a car up on two wheels- like sufing abn elongated dinner plate.
BUT – I bought a new one off the racks the other day on a whim after snapping my last Dahlberg (amazing boards) and it is fucking awesome. Moral -In the age of computer designs and machine shapes don”t try and be a hero messing with the tested deisgns they do work now.
fuck off js u industry tyrant, and all ur syncophantic minions who pander to your ego, ur boards are over priced and underdone
really, i always thought jason stevenson was a pro surfer with all his stickers on his board
Sorry to break the negative theme here but I have a JS revolution and it’s the best board I’ve ever had…

If you look closely, that board actually doesn’t look like it’s working that well for Joel. A little twitchy and sliding a bit more than it should. It doesn’t look magic at all. Seems a bad choice for an ad. Jacks board looks dialed in though.
clearly a reason why Jordy Smith stopped riding JS as his priority shaper !!!!
Ive had a couple, wasnt that impressed. Merricks are way better
