Jordy and Graham Smith in the shaping bay, South Africa

Jetlag sure can be a killer. But when you’ve been on Reunion Island clocking two four-hour sessions every day for a coupla weeks and then fly back South Africa, or more pertinently, if you’re Jordy Smith, a good way to battle it is hanging in the shaping bay. Doesn’t require too much physical strength but allows the buzzing, over-active mind to get lost in something that, truthfully, will never be completely mastered by mankind.

Helps if you’re in there with your dad, too. Jordy’s dad, Graham (or G-Force as he’s more fondly known), let his son come hang out and watch him work his magic on some foam. Craig Kolesky tagged along and fired off this moment of father and son, both in deep concentration. Keep an eye peeled for the Jordy/G-Force pro model, out never (but hopefully someday).
