Anyone who’s tried to pinch a wave from the top 34 during a WT freesurf  session can attest to how impossible this is. Even John Florence can’t get one to himself in Fiji. And herein lies an interesting and rarely spoken about dynamic in the ranks of the World Tour. As you may have observed at your local break, the kid who gets frequently burned in his surfing infancy will no doubt repay the favour to the coming generation. Same applies on the World Tour. Just ask any rookie who tried to nab a wave at Teahupoo during the Irons’ bros reign of dominance. Here, Jordy ensures the cycle continues.
