While You Were Sleeping | Bite Size!
Icky, says champPosted 26 Apr 2012, by STABmag
KS is currently in Bali and he’s taken to twitter about the poor state of their beaches. ”If Bali doesn’t #DoSomething serious about this pollution it’ll be impossible to surf here in a few years. Worst I’ve ever seen,” he wrote to his 180,000 followers. Below is a chronological progression of his Tweets – at one point Kell sparked retort from ‘@journo_realdeal’ – but as you well know, Kelly ain’t scared of a fight (the champ’s Tweets are in bold.)
Plastic, random rubbish, medical waste/needles on beach. Disgusting. Smelly water. Really sad.
Friends just returned from surf trek to outer Indo and said pollution was unbelievable even there. Trash visible in the surf shots.
I’ve never been so alarmed by pollution situation as this trip to Bali/Indo. We need solutions and multi-industry backing.
@kellyslater Idiot, the Lombok channel & Java Trench are two of the globe’s deepest, pulling water & debris in from everywhere. #auspol
@journo_realdeal apologize for observing what I see and expressing it? And I haven’t said I have the answer. Idiot.
@kellyslater Northern Australia, where absolutely no-one is, is littered with debris too. What, dirty beaches? WAKEY WAKEY #auspol
@journo_realdeal idiot…I watch people throwing big bags of trash in the ocean. The hospital dumps waste straight in river.
@kellyslater You’re the world’s best surfer – kudos for that for sure – but stay out of the politics. WE LIVE THERE KELLY #auspol
@journo_realdeal Syringes/medical Waste on beaches. No infrastructure set up properly here. Come have a look and tell me otherwise.
@kellyslater And if you keep calling us “idiot” we’re going to shave off your fucking eyebrows next time you’re over here. BALDY#auspol
@journo_realdeal please try. That would be hilarious. Very mature debate you’re having there.
