Gabriel Medina, slob air-reverse at Huntington, CA

Today at the US Open of Surfing, Huntington, Gabriel Medina did what he does best. The heat-winning formula has, for the most part, been an air-reverse out back on the bank, then pumping through the fat section to the beach and, if the surfer’s lucky enough to reach the shorebreak, a closeout hit with as much tail as is possible on a knee high shorebreak. And while Gabs’ formula wasn’t much different this morning in the round of 48, his air-reverses were higher, quicker and grabbed better than most. This one’s a slob variation that contributed to his 17.97 combined heat total out of a possible 2o points.
