Droid is Worth Every Penny

It’s been a spell since we were gifted an edit from Riley Blakeway. Kid’s been tied-up working on an as-yet untitled project that’ll thrill you to the bone. But amidst the red-eye flights and long days spent searching for the best vantage point, Riley did have time to slice together three sessions he filmed with Andrew ‘Droid’ Doheny during his travels. In an era saturated by two minute edits, it’s amazingly refreshing to see an edit of this quality. ”The footage of droid in trunks is from Nicaragua,” says Riley, “and the rest is a session in Oz and one session out trestles. The intro is an iPhone recording Droid made whilst a AAA guy pulled him out of a jam. The guy was pretty candid so I asked droid to record him whilst I shot Super8. He emailed me the file a month later and I was so jazzed on the voice recording. The guy saying ‘I do a lot of amateur photography and film.’ Droid’s rad to work with because he has a lot of good ideas and is down to do whatever to make a cool clip. He’s always been a fav.”

I hear Droid is out of the next Kai Neville film. He wasn’t very good in lost atlas . He is a good surfer, however. And they cut Owen Wright, too. Can’t blame em. He is a great surfer but that boardspray of those claws has to go.

forget the 2:30 web clip rule, i propose this: grainy lifestyle intro shots must be less than 30 sec. long. if no actual surfing is shown by the 30 second mark, youre clip is invalid. that said, i love andrews style and spontaneity on rail. in the realm of young dudes resurrecting the world of power surfing i prefer droid over most

ya can pick a brazzer from his poor prose

Horrible tune, intro a little long too. I like Riles but that ones lost me…

Droid rips. His execution is a little unkept at times, but I’m a fan of his sloppiness. Knows how to etch the bigger turns, that’s for sure.

Kind of a less powerful version of J. Davies.

More interesting than j Davies I think but agree that it is not up to par with the usual Riley quality. Although the color work in this clip is exceptional overall Not a cohesive clip

I like Riles, but this one is rubbish. He’s fallen off a bit

the concept’s good. see this one like a session rollin in a film. the rail is blasting on some of those gnarly ones. all you guys who talk shit, no one cares if you fall. let your surf do the talk. it’s all about the feeling of fun. you guys really need to hang on to your egos and respect more your fellow creatures. what about when ozzy falls, nobody cares, but everyone love it. even you guys can do what they do, so go listening to some beach boys..

as I was sayin’.. you can’t do what they can do, so..

…droid, come out to NC to surf with us.

Droid straight up rips, unique style and so refreshing not to see a million crabwalk to air reverse combos in the clip. Real tweaked turns, plenty of flare.

J Dizzle also rips no doubt.
