One thing about Dane, he never looks like he is trying too hard. He is surfing at the highest technical level in the world, with the freshest blend of classic and modern style, More power and speed and amplitude than anyone else, more committed than anyone else, making it look butter, And still you get the feeling that he is holding back. Like he could boost another foot but he is just keeping some gas in the tank just because he can. Whoever wins the world title in 2012 is the second best surfer in the world. It’s that fucking simple and that fucking obvious.

Mac (above) is right, its everything in between also its surfing from isnstinct and surfing on feeling. Nobody is as exciting as Dane right now not by a long shot.. without Dane, surfing just isnt the same.

Lots of similar type moves in this clip, but this guy also possesses a open face carve that is maybe only matched by Parko on a good day and anyone who has ever surfed will appreciate how well he reads a wave and his ability to stay in the sweet spot on the face.

I’ve watched his clip ten times and I haven’t watched a clip ten times since Slatans trestles segment in Black and White. When you see the first high speed backside rotor your mind says “fluke” Then he does it again, just as fast, just as unlikely even for Dane. If something seems too good to be true…….. I’m gonna say he has a new wax from sex wax that he and he alone is testing in secret. One that makes Fu wax and all the currently available super waxes feel like grease smeared on ice.

No one else can do this stuff??????, maybe you have heard of Josh Kerr? Owen Wright? Julian wilson? Taj Burrows , Jordy Smith? Mitch Coleborn? etc etc etc, and Dane is sick but does not look as good style wise as some others.
