Dane Reynolds at the Quik Pro, Gold Coast

We’ve already said it, but Dane Reynolds really did show up, blow up, then disappear at the Quiksilver Pro, Gold Coast. He lost two from two heats, but some of the surfing he did in those two heats was, at worst, spectacular. Here’s all of his best waves, collected into one short, grainy, colourless clip. Stab digs.

so i dare anyway to name one surfer from the 44 who even came close to his surfing !

4 to 6 inches? You dumb ass. Gabs is sick, but he will never touch Dane. Not even physically.

The only other surfer in maxing Sunset to challenge John-John on the big balls scale. What were you saying.

Everyone agreed only John-John was more rad at Sunset. Who here was complaining about 4-6 ft max? Chump.

I think the reason we don’t see many waves over 6′ on marinelayer is because it is really boring to watch and I guess for Dane, the same reason applies. That and Ventura does not often get that big. That aside, Dane at Chopes (’11 or ’10) and Sunset (’11) was amazing! Dane was the stand-out at Snapper for sure and the ASP is lucky to have Kolohe and JohnJohn to keep the remaining few events interesting. Time for my second coffee and a bit of quality marinelayer time.

This is just more of the same ..

7.

He´s a great surfer in 4″to 6″ waves, and that´s all. He´s not man enough to win a single event. Brazilian Gabriel Medina has waaaay better future than Dane.

Most of the top guys can do those moves, they just cant win heats doing them because of the risk factor. Dane doesnt win heats doing them either. Most guys surf at 80% in heats…90% when needed. Dane surfs 110% all the time and its awesome to watch but its why he has never won a single event.

dane can’t win heats. it’s been duly noted. that being said, in other important ways, with other important metrics (including some rather immeasureable ones, har), the oft-annoying ventura ‘loser-hipster’ is tops. so just deal with it ya dumb jocks.

C´mon, boys… Dane can´t surf bigger waves. If he can, why we NEVER see really good waves in Marine Layer???

14.

If you cant surf big waves how do you get 3rd in the 2010 Pipe Masters you Douche bags? he was going mental at sunset!! Just admit it hes the fricken best right now…get used to it!

15.

Luke Kerr… Dane came 3rd in the 2010 Pipe Maters because it was held at 4ft Backdoor. I wouldn’t call that ‘big waves.’

16.

wow

17.

Lou Zer 4 foot pipe would make you shit your pants, Its always looks smaller on t.v.. Post some video of yourself surfing pipe, or sunset.
