He has the best finner and air revos in the biz and he cant make it out of the second round on the dream tour. im not even trying to be a hater on these guys at all… but it seems like that whole era of fanning, parko, hobgoods, irons bros and etc. were just way better in barrels, big waves and serious turns. not to mention they could boost in serious conditons. all the new guys are ever shown doing are finners in small beachbreak. you would all think they wouldve built on the previous generation. watch mick at burliegh in “fanning the fire” and u will kniw what i mean

Also Mitch came 2nd at the world u16s in France last year so he’ll probably do better in comps in the future than you think, no point comparing him to the older Cooly kids as they’re pretty much 2 of the top 20 surfers of all time…

@ Geogre Clooney… I tihnk the “Fanning the Fire” section you’re thinking of was actually shot at Lennox – during the epic July swell of 2001. I think Mick was about 19 or 20 at the time and was fresh off the back of a WCT win as a wildcard at Bells (I wonder if any of the current wondergroms could pull that off? Espescially at Bells, a wave that demands power, finesse and well developed wave-reading skills.) To this day I still pump Grinspoon’s “Chemical Heart” while I’m suiting up for a good surf at Lennox, to psych up by bringing back images of Mick’s epic session from that movie!

I actually fast forward through this it was so boring! Better have a back up plan fellas…surfing is going backwards//sweet!! I hope it becomes unpopular next!!

I think these kids are legit, we have all become so desensitized from airs/finners because they have been in our faces for the last however many years in every clip you see.

And watching clips everyday will only enforce that. Truth is, if Mick did some of these airs in any of his video parts from back in the day we would be staring is disbelief at the tv. But the rail surfing/speed/turns, that is what sets him apart from almost anyone of any age.
