“Brenno payed the price for charging the biggest set all day,” says photog Simon Muirhead, who snapped this pre-whaling moment of Brent Dorrington at Snapper. “You can see the second lip forming just down the face of the wave.”

What happened next? Brent got pitched. Sets behind the rock at Snapper have a tendency to bounce and jack, which is just how this one played out and buried Brent in the sand.
