Arica! We forgot it!

If the Cloudbreak madness of last week has given you a bit of an appetite for hairy chested men putting themselves in mortal peril, then it’s probably worth clicking on over to the Maui and Sons WQS event being held at the moment in Arica, Chile. You’ll remember it as the place that doled out several serious injuries to World Tour surfers back when Rip Curl held it’s Search event there back in 2007. You’ll also remember it was won by an en fuego, Andy Irons who made it look tame. To those in the know when it comes to underground tube hunters, it will come as no surprise that Australian Anthony Walsh has been turning heads at the event.

“I think this wave is awesome because I love heavy waves,” said Walsh. “I’m from Australia, but I currently live in Hawaii because that’s where the waves I like are. I don’t really take part in WQS events because they’re usually run on beach breaks. But, since this is a world-famous wave, I decided to come down and I’m loving it, even though it’s one of the most dangerous waves I’ve ever surfed.”

Head over to the ASP to check it out.

Just had look at the heat scores for a couple rounds. Doesn’t look like much is being made
