Some years ago, when the Momentum generation was at its apex, Shane Dorian was one of the most innovative and influential surfers on the planet. After a career of hi-fi dominance, he turned to the big wave arena, where he continues to dominate, even now. Deservedly, Shane was just awarded Waterman Of The Year by the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association. Billabong pieced together this clip in celebration. His in-laws lived up the street from me growing up in San Diego. I got to meet him one day walking home my freshman year in highschool when he was in town for the Boost Mobile Pro. I was star-struck. He was so chill! We talked about cars and different breeds of dogs he was interested in haha. He’s been my hero since day one. Him and K-robb were my favs of the Momentum generation. CONGRATS DOZ!
