2012 Rip Curl Pro, Bells Beach – Day Two

Bells Beach can be a real tasteless bowl of soup, depending on the time of day. It can also be real peppery. For round two (and the tiniest bit of round one) at the Rip Curl Pro today, many had to bounce like they had the hiccups. Some, however, found just what they needed (especially Yadin Nicol, who’s air-rev was probs better than any Stab‘s seen at Bells).

How the fuck did Bede get a 9, or whatever he got for nearly falling on his second bash? So so bizzare.

2.

Yadins reverse was pretty sweet as well and John John was looking super sharp. Also enjoyed the Freddy P and Spartan heat just for the drama. But the highlight of the day for mine was easily Kai Ottens wave against Julian. About as good as it gets in belting the shit out of the lip and beautiful flowing surfing which lets face is what Bells is about.

3.

Tiago Pires is by far the worst surfer on tour. How is he even on tour?
Got over scored yesterday too, although he certainly had the best waves in his heat

4.

no the worse surfer is flores… still in 1989… get him some APES or WEBS and a yellow board now. WOW, look at Jeremy foam climb….rubbish.

5.

Good result for a 89 surfer, especially against JJF, but I guess he was overscored, huh? And also against O Wright, of course. Great to see the kid having a good result, he surfed good and clear, nice turns, good timing, that’s what count at Bells, and he did it. Not his fault if Bells is a 89 wave… (or a 70s wave)
Too bad he decided to go on this wave. An interference or not, he shouldn’t have done that, it was risky, especially against Slater! If one guy was able to make the section, it was Slater!

I know the hype, and all of that talk but i’m actually bummed that Kolohe got knocked today. Also, why was the wildcard slot wasted on such an egg like Davy Cartwheels? Occy shoulda got it.

Double John is the man

Nicol would have won anyway, but how is it possible to get a 9 and getting stuck at every turn?

No surprises so far. Thems what shine shined

All that hype and he’s taken out by Kai otten? Meanwhile john and medina continue to actually deliver. The creative excuse department will be working overtime on Julian and kolohes account by years end if they keep stumbling. Can’t wait for Julian’s lack of results to be used to justify kolohes lack of results. Let’s see parko, taj, john and medina in the quarters. Wish the draw would let that happen

8.

wilko and melling probably two most underrated and underscored surfers on tour.
fvck. wilko is nearly like a goofy Dane Reynolds, kinda.
I’m sure glad we have chop-hoppers and poo-stancers getting wins though.

kolohe is a weak-arse grom next to John Florence, I feel embarrassed for him.

wow. … you must like j-flo…”the kid” .. he’s not a child, too bad he’s a twit that can’t commit himself to any maneuver and gets his frog leg injuries consistently. people in the asp want j-flo, kai otton, r monteiro, and ace buchan are off tour… they are not moving the sport forward, but give us a glimpse of what was.. .. keep defending your Kong Oakley’s and Bad Boy Surf gear.. most of us have moved on.
