Gabriel Medina, dusted.

Kelly

Kelly still gots it. See that shorepound roter? Blazes!

Kai

Kai Otton, giant-killer: Jules yesterday, Taj today.

Josh

Can Josh Kerr out-sizzle Adriano in round five?

Adriano

Adriano De Souza, always dangerous, relegated to round five.

Owen

Everyone's saying Owen's the new Occy. Stab says Owen's the new Owen.

Joel

With heat totals like 17.27 and 18.94, suffice to say Joel Parkinson's steaming.

Jordy

Jordy loves supermans. Especially when they get him through heats, like today.

Jeremy

J-Flo has swerved his way into round five.

Taj

Taj Burrow, eliminated.

2012 RIP CURL PRO, BELLS BEACH – DAY THREE

The Rip Curl Pro, Bells Beach today saw its most dramatic and, we gotta say, entertaining day of the 2012 event so far. Kelly Slater didn’t disappoint. He admitted to feeling the pressure during his battle against wildcard Nic Muscroft (whose power and silkiness Stab couldn’t find any more endearing if we tried.) And, Nic had the champ on the ropes! But in true Kelly style, the Floridian scooped a wave with five seconds on the clock and spun a full roter over the shorepound to advance. Joel Parkinson and Mick Fanning both posted frequent 9-point rides. Kai Otton, who eliminated Jules Wilson yesterday, took down another major entity in the form of Taj Burrow. John Florence went loony, again. CJ Hobgood dispatched Gabs Medina. Jordy Smith did a very big superman. The swell didn’t drop off. Can tomorrow be any better than today? Stay tuned to find out.

medina clearly lost that heat due to Cjs last wave. Medina should of used his priority.. rookie mistake.

I agree with your posting. I never rellay thought about it like that, but now that you mentioned Nike dropping the 6.0 and picking up the weathered tag-line just do it’, it’ll put a new face in the surfing world; one that may not necessarily be welcomed by all. I hope Nike keeps a separate branch of their franchise for surfing (like 6.0) and doesn’t just throw surfing into the Other Sports’ category like the rest of the non-basketball/football/baseball sports. It’ll be a huge detriment to the sport to have big names such as Julian Wilson, Kolohe Andino, and Michel Bourez to be thrown under the bus in the sponsor world with less than adequate attention from such a high corporation. Hope everything works out for the better of the surfing world.

Not a fan of Medina, especially at Bells, but boy, he was more than robbed! Funny to watch Hobgood claiming the score before finishing his wave, some of them guys are clearly afraid to loose against the kid, but while some are beating him fair and square, others need a little help from the judges…
