2012 Nike US Open of Surfing

While Chopes lingers on the horizon, the Nike US Open of Surfing is far closer to shore. Surfing’s most crowd-pulling event, won last year by Kelly Slater and Sally Fitzgibbons, kicks off this coming Saturday and y’can expect the usual amounts of flash and trash pounding the Huntington sand and boardwalk. And, of course, all the top seeded qualifies and those who’ve already proven themselves, scratching beneath the pier. Ask any competitive surfer and they’ll tell you – they all love surfing in front of the crowd at this event. And what’s that mean? Premium performances. Watch it live here.

2.

John John or Medina

3.

JORDY SMITH!!! most consistent surfer over the last few years !!

4.

its flat.. its gonna be flat for the next few weeks.. totally over rated spectacle.. lots of tourists, kook locals, and tools

It’s so flat it will be won by Glenn Hall! He’s out already? If it’s small enough for Glenn Hall to loose, then they should stop the comp!

If they carry on, I guess Gabe Kling and Nate Curran could make it to the final. Even brazzos will find the waves too small. I wouldn’t surf them with my plastic made 9ft.

Medina will take it…..

Brett Simpson! Glenn Hall if it’s less than 1 ft! JJF won’t be thrilled under 3ft, it’s not a CT, the kid loves to surf, real surf! Medina is sooo waited he’ll end up loosing in third round. De Souza can win, as Julian Wilson, and a huge bunch of QS warriors, like Tanner G for instance. The crew is great, o much potential winners, but the waves won’t be on par and it’s gonna be shitty.
Don’t thanks me, I do that graciously.
My pick? Dane Reynolds.

6.

Through Dane’s limited participation in QS events this year perhaps he shall inadvertently attain qualification for the tour

7.

Pff Dane…. Has he ever won a contest? What was the last one he actually won and what year was it?

8.

I didn’t meant Dane Reynolds will won, of course, I meant he’ll come, the media will tell us he’s the Messiah, he’ll won his first round, most journos will come in their pants, then he’ll score 2.5 pts in the 2nd round, and we’ll talk about something else. But the two first days will be Dane’s days! It’s a contractual issue.
